sears Kiva

I just put up a vidoe about Kiva, an organization that makes small loans to people in third world countries in order to help them pull themselves out of poverty. It's one of the places where our kids put their savings. Please check it out. If you're interested, here's the Kiva website: http://www.kiva.org/ Continue

sears Comments

Ning has updated their software so that now new comments will appear at the top of discussions. I had received some comments regarding the difficulty of keeping up with the most recent prayer requests. Well, now they will be at the top of the list, so you can easily go back to using that feature . . . as well as the rest of the site. :) Have a merry Christmas and great 2009. Continue

sears Handlebars

I added 2 videos to my page. It's the same song, Handlebars by Flobots (The Flobots?), but two different videos. I heard this song this weekend and am loving it. Also am grooving on the Flobots and what I am learning about them. One thing they are about is connecting with culture, getting their hands dirty and trying to make the world a better place. Yeah, they appeal to my radical-hippie side. And while this style of music may not work for everyone, I think it's funky. Continue

Stacey You've Been Left Behind...

Okay, I receive this email weekly called dare2share that I began receiving when I worked with the JH and HS kids at ACC a couple years ago. Each week they really make me think. Anyway, this week there was an interesting new website you have to go check out... seriously! Below is the dare2share for this week too! So the internet and blogosphere is all a-twitter with shock and awful opinions of a new website called You've Been Left Behind. Essentially, these folks offer a $40 yearly service that… Continue

Stacey God's Mailbox, Bless Yous, and too tiny for teeth!

Now that I have your attention with the title... I've had a couple people mention to me that more blogs would help make the site more interesting... thought I would give one a try, you should too! I really enjoyed Hannah's blog on anticipating summer and Jacob's blog on the whole silent thing (very cool by the way). So... since I am with my children pretty much 24/7 (and love it by the way) that is about what I have to use as my topic. Of course, those of you who have children or have been aroun… Continue

Matthew, Hannah, & Harlee Summertime

I've always been a fan of summer. I enjoy the time off of school, although by August I'm itching to get back into the classroom. I've always enjoyed late night softball games and swimming under the stars. However, never have I longed for summer as much as I have this summer. Having a baby changes things. We had several snow days at Midway and then added two "sick days" on top of it. So we don't get out of school until May 27th...after Memorial Day! I cannot wait for that day. Knowing that I'll… Continue

Jacob Essenpries Day Of Silence

Its a quiet, honorable tribute to young Americans who suffer needlessly because they are different. Lawrence King is a 15-year old who was shot to death in his classroom because of his sexual orientation. (OXNARD, Calif.) - Organizers say the Day of Silence (dayofsilence.org) is a student-led day of action when concerned students, from middle school to college, take some form of a vow of silence to bring attention to the name-calling, bullying and harassment -- in effect, the silencing -- exp… Continue

sears Dispatch #1

I'm finishing up a book called The New Christians: Dispatches from the Emergent Frontier by Tony Jones. It's a history and description of the emerging church movement, a movement that's been around for about 10 years. I find myself drawn to the emerging church and its attempt to bring Christ to the postmodern world. Scattered throughout the book are a number of "dispatches," brief statements that summarize how "emergents" see the world and the church's pla… Continue

sears Adding a New Blog Post

Everybody (all 22 members) seems to be getting the hang of this pretty quickly. Adding a new blog post is just as simple. You can do it from your page ("MY PAGE"). Write about what you've been thinking about, what God has shown you recently, whatever. You can even decide who can see it and whether or not you want comments on it. And if you get interrupted in the middle of typing it, you can save it as a draft and come back to it later. And if you're feeling fancy, you can… Continue
