The 31st Annual WMAT&MA Tractor Show was held this past weekend. Hundreds braved the hot weather to stroll through the streets of Frontier Village, enjoying the many displays, different activities and good food. This aerial view was compliments of Leroy Cook of Butler.

Middle: The quilt show at the Old Spruce Store had a number of beautiful entries. Pictured is a stained glass quilt made by Garald and Mary Ellen Whitehead of Clinton, MO.

The new and improved Casey’s opened in Adrian on Thursday, June 25. Bright and early at 5am, Randy Wimsatt was the first customer at the gas pump. He was greeted in the store by returning cashier Sharon Riggs.
The grand opening was a smash hit, as customers from Adrian and surrounding areas stopped in to check it out. Casey’s sells homemade pizza, homemade-to-go subs and wraps, and hot sandwiches, appetizers and breakfast.

The American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be in Adrian on Tuesday, July 14 from 1- 6 p.m. at the Adrian Optimist Building. All types of blood are needed and greatly appreciated by those in need. The need is great. I know everyone is busy this time of year and you may feel it won’t be missed. However, a person in need will miss that unit of blood.
Several have said to me lately that they cannot donate because they are on blood pressure medicine, etc. Please come by and check this out as nearly all medicines are covered now. If you have been deferred for some minor reasons, check with us again as several regulations have changed over the years. Also, if you make it inside the door before 6:00 p.m., you will be processed. It’s a good time, then onto dinner and relaxation. You will feel good for doing something good for all those in need.
You have to be feeling well that day, weigh at least 110 pounds, and 17 years old to have to have parental consent. Eat a good iron rich meal and drink plenty of water or fluids.
Red Letter Tuesday, July 14 on that calendar now and join our friends and neighbors to donate blood.
Eddie and Pamela Brann of Pleasant Hill, MO are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Jennifer RaShelle Brann, to Jeremy Daniel Fly, son of Bud and Ann Fly of Drexel, MO.
The couple are planning a September 26, 2009 wedding at Lone Summit Ranch.
The Adrian Food Pantry provides food for 70 families to date. The Pantry relies solely on donations to assist people in need. Because of a food collection drive at Adrian R-III, two nine year olds were determined to help even more. Taylor Keith and Ashlee Burris found all sorts of ways to raise nearly $55.00. Taylor and Ashlee bought a wide-variety of non-perishables and donated them to the Adrian Food Pantry on Wednesday, June 24. Pictured, left to right: Ashlee Burris, Julie Stevens and Taylor Keith.
The Adrian Food Pantry is open from 9 am - 11 am on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month.

The weather cooperated with sunshine, fluffy clouds in a bright blue sky and a light breeze rustling through the shelter house and the trees on the Adrian Manor Health and Rehabilitation’s patio area. Around two dozen people came out in last week’s summery heat to enjoy an appreciation picnic at the Manor. The picnic was held for the many volunteers who devote their time and talents for the residents.
The Manor can always use volunteer help. If you are interested in helping to brighten the day for residents and would like to volunteer a little time, contact the Adrian Manor’s Activity Department for more information at 816-297-2107.
The residents and staff of Adrian Manor would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the community for their support and assistance with last Saturday’s Bake Sale. With the community’s help, they raised $1,600 dollars to purchase patio furniture for the residents.
